Frequently asked questions.

Where will all the crops for the gas plant come ?

Ironstone Energy’s website states that “Buckminster Estate would be supplying around half the feedstock per annum with the remainder coming from local growers within a few miles from the site”.

We understand that a few miles equates to 10-15+ miles away and that is is likely that a second storage facility will also be used - Ironstone have not confirmed where this will be but it may mean crops come from even further afield.

The crops will be maize, which requires significant numbers of additional tractor and HGV trips to harvest it - for more information on the damage maize can cause please read the Soil Association report which can be viewed here.
